Annaatthe, starring Rajinikanth, was released on November 4 to coincide with Diwali. Early in the morning, Thalaivar’s devoted followers flocked to the theatres to catch a sight of him. Annaatthe appears to be receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences, while setting the box office on fire with its opening day earnings. Annaatthe is a family film directed by Siruthai Siva.
Annaatthe was released in over 1000 theatres throughout the world on Day 1 and had a huge opening weekend. The film collected nearly Rs 35 on day 1, setting an all-time record. After the second wave of the new coronavirus pandemic, this is the first big-budget film to hit theatres.
It will be interesting to see if Annaatthe can keep its footing in terms of collection throughout the weekend, given the lacklustre response.
Annaatthe marks Rajinikanth’s 168th feature film. The rural entertainer is directed by Siruthai Siva and produced by Sun Pictures. Keerthy Suresh, Nayanthara, Meena, Khushbu, Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu, and Soori are among the cast members.
